FOTS Gets #1 Seed, Goodfellas Flail
Goodfellas opened the night against Nike and couldn't have started off any better. After holding Nike scoreless in their first at-bat, Goodfellas rattled off 7 runs to get things started on the right foot. Unfortunately Goodfellas would not score again as their offense struggled to string hits together in yet another game. Good defense kept them in it though as they held Nike scoreless over three of the six innings, but in the end Nike put up 8 in their other three innings to take the 8-7 victory.

FOTS took on SE Church of Christ in a game that originally looked to be important for determining the #1 seed before SECOC fell to Shadycrest in their first game. Nonetheless, FOTS took care of business with an 11-7 victory.

This setup the grand finale for the season, another battle between FBCF teams. These have been really good games lately and after the first inning it appeared that trend might continue as Goodfellas carried a 4-3 lead going into the second inning. Then FOTS exploded for 11 runs. Excellent hitting coupled with a few defensive gaffes contributed to the monstrous output. At one point FOTS had eleven straight hits! The third inning was another 1-run victory for Goodfellas, but obviously they were going to need more than that to make a comeback. FOTS put up 3 more in the top of the fourth to take a commanding 21-9 lead. FOTS decided to mix things up in the field just for fun and Goodfellas took advantage of it. After a "Yakkity-Sax" style offensive outburst, Goodfellas had the winning run on first with two outs but FOTS was able to secure the final out, but not before Goodfellas had scored 10 runs to make the final 21-19.

It was asked after the game if this was the most runs ever scored between the two teams. The answer is YES!

FBCF Goes .500 on the Night
Both FBCF teams played one really good game and one mediocre game on Monday night. The mediocre game cost each team a win.

Goodfellas played The Rounders in the first game. Goodfellas jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the first inning. Both teams went scoreless over the next two innings before Rounders closed in slightly heading into the fifth with the score 7-5. Rounders put up another run in the top of the fifth to close the gap to a single run. Then with 6 minutes left on the clock, Goodfellas batted until time ran out, putting up 7 runs in the process to win the game 14-6.

FOTS went up against Shadycrest in their first game of the night and simply destroyed them in a 3 inning 15-0 run-rule victory.

FOTS then came up against the formidable A-Men. In a tight game, FOTS had a chance to win in the bottom of the fifth, but fell short 9-8.

Goodfellas jumped out to a 9-2 lead after three innings and then never scored again as Hope Lutheran tacked on 8 runs in their final two at-bats to win 10-9.

Quick Summary From Last Week
Apologies for not getting a summary up quickly for last weeks games.

Another Great Night for FOTS, Goodfellas Split
Goodfellas started off their evening against SE Young Adults. Things were looking okay through three innings as the game was tied 5-5. Then Goodfellas got stuck and couldn't get their bats going again. Fortunately SEYA had the same problem and it was STILL 5-5 going into the sixth inning! Credit the Goodfellas defense for keeping it close. There were at least 5 plays made at the plate and 3 were thrown out dead-to-rights and a fourth got caught in a rundown and was put out. Great throws from David and Brett and excellent fielding by Warren helped make this possible. Then SEYA unleashed 5 runs on the home team in their final at-bat. Goodfellas bats remained silent as they lost 10-5.

At the same time, FOTS was taking on Nike. FOTS came out of the gate with bats blazing and didn't let up in a 12-7 victory. FOTS then took on SEYA and stayed hot as they turned the tables on SEYA and won 10-5.

In the final game against Shadycrest, Goodfellas again found themselves struggling to score runs, but once again their defense was keeping it close. After the top of the fifth, Goodfellas lead 5-2 as they came up to bat. Then all of a sudden their bats came to life (assisted by a couple of poor defensive plays). Goodfellas put up 7 runs to win the game on a run-rule by a score of 12-2.
