FOTS Turns Tables on Goodfellas, Win Tourney!
After each team won their first game in the tourney, it was another epic battle between FOTS and Goodfellas. It was a low scoring, slow scoring affair for the first several inning as each team nickel and dimed their way to a 4-3 Goodfellas lead after 4 innings. FOTS scored a couple to go up 5-4 and then Goodfellas found their offense scoring 7 runs behind David's big grand slam. FOTS answered with 4 more but it was not enough as time expired and Goodfellas won 11-9.

FOTS took care of business in the loser's bracket against Clear Lake Baptist which setup the championship game against Goodfellas, guaranteeing an all FBCF championship.

It wasn't even close. FOTS jumped out to a 10-1 lead after two innings and never looked back for two games. FOTS forced the "if" game with a 20-2 beatdown, then followed it up with a 14-2 shellacking. FOTS were cranking on all cylinders, smacking base hits and playing great defense. Goodfellas lost their rhythm and could not get in a groove as they put up back-to-back games that were easily their worst offensive outputs of the season.

Congrats FOTS on winning the tourney!!  Stats will be posted soon.

Goodfellas Win the League!
Since we don't have a central place to go look at standings, we can only look at our own schedule and try to deduce where we stand in the league. According to our schedule, coming into last night's games Goodfellas were 9-2-3 and FOTS were 8-3-2. To make it simple, after breaking down ties, Goodfellas had 3.5 losses and FOTS had 4 losses. The only other team we could think of that would be challenging our teams for the league lead was League City Church of Christ #1. Looking at our schedule we know that FOTS beat them twice and Goodfellas beat them once. Also, both teams played LCCC1 to a tie. So adding it all up, that comes out to at least 4 losses for LCCC1.

So with all the math done, it meant that if Goodfellas could take care of business last night, they should be the league winners. If Goodfellas lost, it would have been between FOTS and LCCC1.

Goodfellas were up against Baybrook Baptist who had scored 11 runs in their last at-bat to steal a tie from Goodfellas in their last meeting three weeks ago. Goodfellas got off to a good start holding BB to a single run and then following it up with 6 runs of their own. BB cut the lead to 3 in the second inning but never got closer than that as Goodfellas took care of business with a 13-8 win. This victory pretty much sealed up the league title for the season!

FOTS were up next against League City's #2 team. After a slow start, FOTS found a decent rhythm and were able to come away with a 13-6 win.

FOTS still has one more game to play next week as a rainout makeup from July 15.

FOTS Goes the Distance plus Another FOTS vs. GF Nail Biter
FOTS took on Clear Lake Baptist in the first game of the evening in what seemed like a war of attrition. On CLB's side, there was consistency - one run almost every inning. For FOTS, it was a mish-mash of good innings and bad innings. Fortunately they did have one really good inning and were able to come away with the victory in a rare 7 inning game.

CLB  1    1    1    1    0    3    0    7
FOTS  0    1    4    0    7    0    -    12

Next up was another FOTS vs. Goodfellas battle. It was a six inning thriller that ended......in another tie! It seems there have been more ties this season than in any other previous season. After four innings, FOTS was in the lead 11-7. In the fifth, Goodfellas used some stellar defense to hold FOTS scoreless, however they were unable to take advantage and only scored one run to make it 11-8. The sixth inning again saw Goodfellas play some great defense and hold FOTS scoreless again. Goodfellas went into their final at-bat needing 3 to tie and 4 to win. After a leadoff out, Stan got things going with a double. David was intentionally walked and then Michael coaxed another walk to load the bases. Taylor hit a sacrifice fly to score Stan and bring Goodfellas within 2. Then Warren hit a perfect single to left that squirted through and scored 2 runs to tie the game! FOTS was able to get the final out to preserve the tie and close another chapter in the FOTS vs. GF story.

GF  3    0    0    4    1    3    11

The final game of the night was Goodfellas vs. CLB. It was pretty close through four innings with Goodfellas holding a 15-10 lead after four. Then Goodfellas exploded for 9 runs in the top of the fifth and CLB had no answer. Goodfellas win 24-10.
