FBCF Goes 3 for 4 Tonight
FOTS kicked things off with a nice defensive game against Clear Lake Baptist, holding them to only 2 runs and winning 11-2.

Next up, the Goodfellas were neck and neck with Clear Lake in a low scoring affair. Each team would go up by one run after their turn at bat. Finally in the last inning, Goodfellas were able to break out with 5 runs and then hold on as Clear Lake was the home team and got the last at bat. Goodfellas win 12-7.

The finale was a classic battle as FOTS took on the Goodfellas in the night cap. It was a back and forth game with the Goodfellas jumping out to an early lead, but then FOTS clawing their way back into it and then finally pulling into the lead in their final at bat which included a rocket 3-run blast by Nathan that would have made NASA proud. Goodfellas were down 12-11 and came to bat as the home team with the top of their order on deck. Heath singled to get the tying run on base. With one out and Heath still on first, JP came up to bat and blasted one over the center field hill to win with a walk-off 2-run home run! What a finish!

Check out JP's line for the night:
6 for 6, 4 HR, 1 Double, 1 Single, and 2 Walks.

Tonight, the "P" in JP stood for Pujols (pre-2012 Pujols of course).

Goodfellas start off on the right foot, FOTS struggles
The Goodfellas and FOTS had to play each other in the first game tonight. It was a tight game throughout. Both teams had a couple of defensive goofs and neither team hit very well. Goodfellas ended up squeaking out the victory in the end.

Next up, FOTS tried to bounce back against Baybrook. FOTS still struggled to find their groove at the plate while Baybrook was able to post runs fairly consistently. This resulted in a disappointing second loss of the night for FOTS.

In the final game, it was another close one as Goodfellas battled Baybrook. It seemed every time one team would score runs, the other team would counter. Then if a team had a bad inning, the other team followed suit. In the end, the Goodfellas were able to hold on for the victory and a good start to their Spring season.

Goodfellas Stats Highlights
Best Batting Avg: Heath - 1.000
Best Slugging Pct: Heath - 3.000
Home Runs: Heath (3), Mike (1), Matt (1)
The Only Triple: Mike
Most RBIs: Heath - 5
Most Runs Scored: Heath - 6

In other words.....MVP: Heath!

FOTS Stats Highlights
Best Batting Avg: Carlos, Joel, Kyle, Mason, Moe, Nathan - .666
Best Slugging Pct: Joel - 2.166
Home Runs: Joel (3), Mason (2), Kyle, Carlos, Nathan, Richard (1)
Most RBIs: Joel - 4
Most Runs Scored: Joel and Kyle - 4

Here We Go!
The 2012 softball season kicked off tonight with FOTS playing a couple of games while Goodfellas had a first week BYE.

In the first game against Baybrook, a couple of bad breaks left FOTS wishing they had just one more chance. First, Nathan hit a towering shot that should have been a home run. Instead it bounced off the lights and back into the field of play, which in our league is a live ball. That cost them 2 runs. Later, Matt hit a laser to left field and the left fielder made an amazing diving catch to prevent what would have most likely been a home run as it would have rolled far past the hill. That would have been 3 more runs since there were two men on base at the time. In the end FOTS had a chance to win the game, needing only 2 runs in their final at bat. They loaded the bases but then produced 3 pop fly outs to end the game  on a losing note 9-8.

The second game saw FOTS come out swinging, scoring 6 runs in their first at bat and not letting up as they routed Clear Lake 21-4.

Stats Highlights
Best Batting Avg: Ben - 1.000
Best Slugging Pct: Matt - 2.143
Home Runs: Matt (3), Kyle (2), Joel (2)
Most Doubles: Nathan - 4
Triples: Richard, Zach
Most RBIs: Kyle - 6
Most Walks: Ben - 3
